Hebrish user manual¶
Hebrish is voice typing for people who speak English with Hebrew words in it. You talk, and the text appears where your cursor is, with words like arnona and teudat zehut spelled the way you'd write them in English. Recognition runs on your own phone or computer, so what you say stays there.
What this manual covers
Manual version 1.6 (2026-11-06) describes Android 1.019, Ubuntu 1.025 and Windows 1.022. The Windows build is behind Ubuntu, so features it doesn't have yet are tagged "not in the Windows build yet". What changed is in Changes to this manual.
Hebrish is experimental, and it is Daniel Rosehill's personal project. If something here doesn't match what you see in the app, tell Daniel.
Start here¶
- Install Hebrish on your phone or computer.
- Choose a model. It downloads once and then works offline.
- Learn your platform:
- Computer: Voice Typing puts text at your cursor in any app. Transcription handles long recordings and audio files.
- Phone: Set up the phone, then use the voice keyboard, the floating mic, or both.

Words used in this manual¶
- Take
- One stretch of recording, from when you start to when you stop.
- Model
- The speech recognition file Hebrish uses to turn your voice into text. You can keep several and switch between them.
- Add-on
- A smaller optional model that does one job after the text exists, such as adding paragraphs or a title.
